Frequently Asked Questions
Questions,
answered.
If something isn't covered here, ask us. No question is too small.
01Does my athlete need rep volleyball experience?
Absolutely not.
The Prime Rep Ready Academy was created for athletes with a wide range of experience. Some athletes are preparing for their first rep tryout, while others simply want to become stronger, more confident volleyball players.
Our responsibility as coaches is to meet athletes where they are, help them understand the game, and provide the tools they need to continue improving. No athlete should ever feel like they are “behind.” Everyone starts somewhere.
02Is the academy only for athletes who want to play rep volleyball?
No. While the academy is designed to prepare athletes for competitive rep volleyball, many athletes join simply because they want better coaching, improve their skills, gain confidence, or enjoy learning in a positive environment. Whether an athlete dreams of making a rep team or simply wants to become the best player they can be, they are welcome at Prime Potential Volleyball.
03What if my athlete does not know their position?
That’s completely normal. If your athlete doesn’t know their position, simply write “Any Position” on the registration form. Throughout the academy, our coaches help athletes discover the position that best matches their strengths, athletic abilities, and long-term development.
04What age range is the academy for?
The Prime Rep Ready Academy is for athletes ages 11 to 17.
05How are athletes grouped?
Athletes are grouped primarily by age, experience, and current skill level whenever possible. This allows every athlete to be challenged appropriately while building confidence in a supportive environment.
06What should athletes bring?
Indoor court shoes, knee pads (recommended), a water bottle, comfortable athletic clothing, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. Most importantly, athletes should come prepared to ask questions, make mistakes, support teammates, and enjoy the process of improving.
07What kind of shoes do athletes need?
Indoor court shoes with non-marking soles — the same kind of shoe used for basketball or badminton. Outdoor shoes and running shoes are not appropriate for an indoor gym floor and will not provide the grip volleyball footwork requires.
08How long is each academy session?
Each session is three hours and includes a review of game film from the previous week, technical skill instruction, position-specific development, competitive drills, and approximately one hour of game play where athletes apply what they have learned.
09Will athletes play games?
Yes. Every academy session includes approximately one hour of structured competitive play so athletes can apply new skills in realistic game situations while receiving coaching and feedback.
10Will athletes receive feedback?
Absolutely. Athletes receive ongoing coaching throughout each session, opportunities to review video, ask questions, and better understand both their strengths and the areas they should continue developing. Our goal is not simply to tell athletes what to improve—we help them understand how to improve.
11Is video recorded during academy sessions?
Yes. Video analysis is one of the unique features of the Prime Rep Ready Academy. Athletes review selected game footage to better understand their movement, positioning, decision-making, and overall performance. Video is used strictly as a learning tool to support athlete development.
12Can parents watch?
Absolutely.
At Prime Potential Volleyball, we believe parents are an important part of every athlete’s journey. We welcome parents to watch academy sessions because we see them as partners in their child’s development—not just spectators.
Our goal is to build a community where athletes, parents, and coaches work together to help every player reach their full potential. When parents understand what their athletes are learning, they are better able to encourage, support, and celebrate their progress outside the gym.
We also value parent feedback, ideas, and suggestions. While our coaches are responsible for delivering the program, we believe the best organizations listen, learn, and continue to grow. Open communication helps us create the best possible experience for every athlete and family.
Prime Potential Volleyball is more than a volleyball academy—it is a community built on trust, respect, collaboration, and shared goals.
It takes everyone for everyone to reach their Prime Potential.
13What is your refund policy?
Our refund and cancellation policy will be provided during registration. Because academy spaces are limited and planning begins well before the first session, refunds may be subject to timelines and administrative policies. Complete details will always be communicated before registration is finalized.
14What happens if my athlete misses a session?
Fees cover a place in the program rather than attendance at individual sessions, so we’re not able to offer refunds, credits, or pro-rated fees for sessions an athlete misses — including for illness, holidays, or conflicts with other sports.
That said, if your athlete does miss a session, our coaches will do their best to help them catch up on what was covered.
15When will the Prime Pythons rep teams begin?
Prime Potential Volleyball plans to launch the Prime Pythons rep program for the 2027–2028 Ontario Volleyball Association season. Open gyms and tryouts are expected to begin in August and September 2027. Families are encouraged to join our interest list for updates.
